Modern Cawood Garden Design and Build Project Overview

Modern garden in Cawood

Project overview

Designed to provide valuable space to enjoy the garden and created to suit their home and style incorporating a hot tub, Breeze House, decking area and paved areas, with planting to suit a low maintenance theme.

Located in Cawood, on the banks of the river Ouse, our clients were looking for a garden that reflected their style. With space for seating, relaxing and entertaining whilst keeping the garden low maintenance.

The existing garden was just lawn, with no redeeming features, which gave us the opportunity to create a new garden design to suit.

Working closely with the homeowners, we designed a garden that provided various areas for seating and entertaining that followed the sun around the garden. Using modern porcelain paving and decking for the surfacing to help echo a low maintenance and modern feel.

Creating a garden that felt balanced and useable was at the forefront of our minds when we first met our clients, who wished for usable spaces without taking up all of the lawn with paving.

Garden Design and Build Project Highlights

Exploring design options through our garden design service, helped us convey what was possible without even putting a spade in the ground.

Taking reference for the client’s home and our discussions, we successfully created a garden design solution that fit perfectly.

  • Space for seating, dining a hot tub and a Breeze House were all configured in a relatively small area.
  • The garden didn’t feel to cramped or over designed.
Planting was carefully selected to echo the modern feel whilst keeping maintenance low.
  • The aspect of the house was considered when creating the layout so that the main areas followed the sun throughout the day.

Using our design experiences and expertise, really helped create a full garden that really worked for the space available. Creating a layout also played a critical role in being able to accurately cost and project manage the build stage.

Following our design service we worked through sample selections and even chose the paint colour for the fencing to enable us to bring all elements together for the build.

The Site & Brief

The homeowners had found us online and read our reviews and had decided to get in touch to discuss their medium sized garden. They wondered what was possible and we recommended our garden design service to help explore its potential without making mistakes with practical works first.

The key objectives were to:

  • Create usable areas in which they could use the garden at varying times of the day.
  • Provide a modern feel that connected with their internal design style.
  • Use modern materials that were easy to maintain.
  • Not take up too much lawn space, so that the garden felt balanced.
  • Add planting but for it to be low maintenance.

Creating a design that was set at 45 degrees to the house, helped to make the most of the available space whilst allowing parts of the lawn to come closer to the house. This helped create the feeling of space and provided zones for seating, dining and a hot tub area.
